"I wanted to bring Middle Eastern princesses to the West by giving them an urban and trendy twist."
These were the words of designer and founder of AURA Headpieces, Caroline Chammas when I asked her to give me one of the ideas behind her creation. She also went on to describe how her early fascination in beautiful hair and headpieces has lead her to turn this once hobby into a business of her own. "I used to turn necklaces into headpieces, which my friends would like and I would make similar ones for them." Well, this young up-and-coming designer is now creating these gorgeous headpieces for many fashionistas and trendsetters to enjoy and wear for many different occasions.
I would definitely describe these pieces as versatile; they could be worn on the head, as necklaces or as accessories attached to the clothes. Whether you're going out for a coffee with friends or have a wedding to go to, these "tiara-like-pieces" will surely turn heads. They will transform your whole image by adding that extra hollywood glamour, especially that they're dipped in 18 carat gold!
I have to say that the best part (besides talking to the lovely designer) was trying the headpieces on! I think it's safe to say that I fell in love with every single one of them and I've got these pictures as examples to show you why!
This is the outfit I wore today for the meeting:
Black top with leather hem by Zara
Leopard silk pants (recreation of old similar pants I had)
Gold sandals by Mario Bruni
Chunky vintage gold and silver necklace by Wayed Vintage
Thanks AURA headpieces for sharing your designs with me...I surely felt like a princess! <3
(AURA headpieces is currently showcasing at Gallery Lafayette in Dubai Mall and will be around Dubai for another week. It is also retailing at Henri Bendel NY and will soon be launching at Bergdorf Goodman NY)
